Why make software difficult ?

25+ years experience in developing software across a broad spectrum of languages has taught me that the simplest solutions are the ones which do one thing well.
There are always fads in technology; most only lasting a few years. Make software simple, use established technologies, make the software simple enough for the client to look after and maintain.
